Safety
Although irTactical training systems are safe to use under most circumstances, caution must be maintained during the use of any tactical training equipment.
IrTactical training guns do not deploy a projectile of any kind. They emit only an infrared signal beam no more harmful than your average TV remote. The LED, or Light Emitting Diode, that emits the infrared beam is commonly found in many household objects and toys. It is not capable of emitting a harmful amount of radiation as it is currently configured in ir laser guns. However, we recommend taking precautions to avoid unnecessary exposure by not looking directly down the barrel at close range or aiming at other users’ eyes. Observers can partake in any training session without any safety gear, unless the environment demands such. The internal pneumatics that allow irTactical guns to create a realistic recoil and noise are powered by the SmartMag, which contains a pressurized cylinder. This cylinder must be handled with care. The SmartMag has been safely designed to prevent the cylinder from ejecting while under pressure, in the event that the SmartMag breaks or opens up unexpectedly. The cylinder consists of compressed CO2 in a 12 gram cartridge. Do not inhale this gas as it may cause lightheadedness among other things. Quick discharge of a full cylinder may occur at extremely cold temperatures. Freeze burn or frostbite has a rare chance of happening if bare skin comes into contact with the cylinder or gas during a rapid discharge.
The irTactical ir4 was designed to allow law enforcement officials and military members the chance to train in any environment. Caution must be taken to not train in an area designated as “unsafe” for normal persons. Do not train with irTactical systems in areas with dangerous terrain, live fire exercises, or heavy vehicle traffic. Special care must be taken when training in these areas and protective gear may be needed. As with most tactical training procedures of this nature, be sure to always follow the instructions and commands of the instructor.
Never attempt to modify your irTactical gear in any way. Nor should you attempt repair procedures on your own without irTactical’s consent. You may render the equipment inoperable or unsafe to use.
