irTactical Active Shooter: Whitewater, WI 2012

What:
The irTactical Active Shooter event is set to become one of the largest active shooter training programs the country has ever seen. This event will cover many different exercises, carried out on the big and beautiful University of Wisconsin - Whitewater campus. Dozens of tactical teams, SWAT personnel, law enforcement officers, ROTC cadets, federal agencies, EMT’s, and more will be on hand for two full days of training amongst the university grounds. The scenarios will include hostage rescue, school bus clearing, casualty treatment, evacuation under fire, and many other real world exercises. Students will be participating as hostages and bystanders while Emergency Medical Technicians evaluate and treat simulated casualties as the participating teams cover them. All of this will take place in the corridors and rooms of the recently built Hyland Hall and other campus locations. There will also be classes and interactive discussions taking place throughout the weekend. The latest in state-of-the-art law enforcement products from several high-tech companies will be used to accomplish individual scenarios and help provide the full training experience.

Who:
The irTactical Shooter Event is open to law enforcement professionals and related industries only. This event is NOT open to the public. Up to 30 law enforcement groups will be allowed to register. These include police, sheriffs, SWAT teams, federal agents, and more. Also attending are dozens of high-tech companies displaying, demonstrating, and using their latest equipment. Expect the press and media on hand to capture the event.

Why:
While there are training programs and classes occurring just about every day, there isn’t really a comprehensive active shooter program for everyone that would be involved in the real thing. The goal of this event is to change all that. Using the latest in law enforcement training products, trainees will integrate with EMT’s and fire personnel to participate in a variety of exercises that mimic real world situations. By having the event on an actual school campus using realistic equipment, participants will walk away with hours of satisfying and helpful training. The event will also bring together the top companies making products for the industry to allow trainees the chance to check out and use them as they normally would.
